How to get involved with the Laird Lewis Sponsorship Campaign
1) Come up with a list of local businesses that you think might be willing to sponsor the Laird Lewis Invitational.
2) Contact Elizabeth Merritt with your list of potential sponsors. She’ll either give you the go-ahead, or ask you to keep thinking of different businesses--this step is crucial! It makes the team seem unprofessional if multiple individuals contact the same business regarding sponsorships.
3) Review the information, available below to help you make your sponsorship pitch successful. You’ll find a literature to take with you on your pitch, and presentation tips.
4) 25% of the value of cash sponsorships you bring to the team will go towards your debate account. Your debate account can be used to pay for tournaments in the second.
5) Rehease what you plan on saying to companies before you go! It might be useful to “role-play” approaching a business with Mr. West and Mr. Kline. Elena Botella and Elizabeth Merritt are also available if you have questions about the Laird Lewis Sponsorship Campaign.
6) Go to a local business—use the “pitch sheets” provided (Canvassing Tips and Pitch Sheet), follow the presentation tips, and show them why Sponsoring the team is a win-win. Good luck!
